![]() ![]() It's fun and creative – there are roughly 4 categories of persons to consider when talking about the video format: the actor/narrator, the director, the scriptwriter and the viewer/audience.It's more vivid – a video is essentially a collection of live images that induce certain feelings and ideas.It's personalised – the main thing about a video diary is your face (or not) – you are free to film yourself or your surroundings.It's fast and easy – you can use your laptop or mobile phone, you don't have to carry pen and paper everywhere.Why should you consider a video diary (as compared to a traditional one)? Finally, having to use my phone for it would be quite time-consuming (which means even more screen time). For me, it wouldn't really work – it's not so magical (you don't see how your hand is transforming the paper), it's highly probable that I create an entry or two and then forget about it. What about mobile app diaries? I never really considered having one. I think that this truly helped me understand myself and feel less lonely at some times. Topics that I wrote about in my diary were studying abroad, deciding what to do after University, analysing my strengths and interests, working out what I want to achieve in my life. Plus, I always found it interesting to reread old entries and have a good laugh/cry at the things I wrote. The biggest benefit for me was getting more clarity for the way I feel and behave. I have personally kept a pen-and-paper diary for a long time – in some periods more actively than in others. Interestingly, there is now a YouTube video diary series developed by Every Media in partnership with the Anne Frank House. For example, this is how the story of Anne Frank has reached us. Many great people have kept diaries to record their observations of nature, life and society. One should always have something sensational to read in the train.
